Summer Style, Travel
Every summer, we take a big family vacation to a beautiful, beachy place in New England. Sometimes we go to Martha’s Vineyard, other times Cape Cod, and, also, Block Island. Last week, I made my second trip to Block Island, and, really, just had the best time.
I have to say that when I first arrived at Block Island, I was in love. It is a very small island, but offers a lot. When you first get off the ferry, you are right in the heart of the commercial area. There are several hotels, bed and breakfasts, cute shops, restaurants, etc. You almost don’t know where to start! Then, as you move away from the commercial area, you really discover the beauty of the island.
Below I have listed out some great places to eat, drink, shop, and play.
This past weekend, we spent time with family and friends on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. It was the beautiful, relaxing, laid-back weekend we so desperately needed! I rented a great house right on the lake. It had a dock, small beach, and two decks – it was perfect for us. The view from the second floor was really awesome, because it looked like we were just floating on water.
We spent the whole weekend at the house grilling, having drinks, and at night, we even had a small fire on the beach complete with s’mores. This was definitely a mini vacation that needs to be repeated!
This dress was perfect for the lake, because it is so simple and comfortable. And, I really love the pattern. The blues and greens are so pretty, and they even match the landscape. I’ll definitely be wearing this all summer long, especially on those cool, casual nights.

We recently attended an absolutely stunning wedding at The Sagamore on Lake George. Our friends, who were married, visit their family lake home here often, and have always said the best things about it. We had never been before, but we certainly want to go back!
The Sagamore is a true resort with many activities, dining options, and places to stay. For the wedding, we stayed in The Lodges, but, next time, I definitely want to stay in the Historic Hotel. The views of the lake were breathtaking – the perfect background for any photo. The grounds we immaculate and not overdone. There were many people sitting outside in Adirondack chairs enjoying drinks with a view. Something I want to be doing there again sometime soon.
I grew up on the Jersey Shore, so I’ve always been a steadfast beach person, but I am starting to expand my horizons. This was first of two lake trips I will be taking this month. In a couple weeks, we are headed to Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire with about 15 friends and family to celebrate my husband’s 30th birthday. Stay tuned!

Eric and I do a lot of weekend trips. He is from Connecticut, and I am from New Jersey, so we have friends and family all over the Northeast. Before we had Madeline, and when we were still living in Connecticut, we were going somewhere almost every weekend. A couple years ago, I decided it was time we bought nice weekender bags, since we were traveling so much, and approaching 30.
For me, I went with this Sailcloth Duffle, which I had been eyeing for a while. It comes in white and pink, but I chose the white, because I wanted to add a colorful monogram. This bag is so beautiful and well-made. The sailcloth is thick; the leather is gorgeous; and the hardware is top-notch. This bag is also so large and spacious – you will NOT be disappointed!
For Eric, I ordered him this Leather Duffle for his birthday, and he absolutely loves it. L.L. Bean makes such a high-quality gear, we know this bag will last a lifetime. This duffle is a little smaller than mine, but Eric always packs much less than me. This weekender is simple and masculine, just like him. 🙂 It is also is in such high demand that we had to wait three months for it to arrive! Even now, it is backordered until June 8th!
And for our baby girl, pink with hearts! We received this off our registry last year, and I am so glad we did! Pottery Barn Kids has the cutest things for babies and children! It is a really dangerous place! This exact style is no longer available, but there are so many adorable prints for little boys and girls! We also received the matching tote and toiletry bag – all monogrammed!
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you have a fun weekend ahead!
